Using Crumb

How to Set Up Your Pantry

How to Set Up Your Pantry

Quick answer: Go to You > My Pantry and add the staples you always have at home — things like olive oil, garlic, rice, flour, salt. Crumb uses this list automatically whenever it suggests what to cook, so you don’t need to keep typing the same basics every time.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Crumb and go to You > My Pantry.
  2. Tap Add Item and type in a staple you always have on hand.
  3. Repeat for anything else you keep stocked — oils, spices, grains, tinned goods, whatever’s always in your kitchen.
  4. Remove anything you don’t actually keep stocked by tapping it and selecting Remove.

Why this matters

You don’t want to type “olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic” every single time you ask Crumb what to cook — you always have those anyway. Your Pantry tells Crumb what to assume you’ve got, so you can just search using the ingredient that’s actually driving tonight’s decision — like “chicken” or “salmon” — and get suggestions that make sense with what’s already in your kitchen.

Quick tips

  • Keep it to genuine staples — things you restock regularly, not a one-off ingredient you bought for a single recipe.
  • Update it any time your staples change — no limit on how many you can add.
  • Your Pantry works alongside What Can I Cook Tonight? — set it up once, then just search by the main ingredient you’re working with.
